25 for 25
Can you believe that July is already here? It truly seems like yesterday when I was pulling on all my layers to keep warm from the winter.
With July here, that means that August is just around the corner, and come August means...my birthday is only a few short weeks away! If you've been following my life for a little while, you know that I love to celebrate and celebrating birthdays is probably one of the things I love to celebrate most!
This year for my birthday I am partnering with an organization that so close to my heart, Thirst Project. At the start of 2017, I hopped on a plane and flew to Los Angeles, California to begin an internship that truly changed my life. A teammate and I traveled all across North America speaking at schools on the global water crisis, encouraging students to get involved and help us change the world.
I first learned about the global water crisis in junior high but it wasn't until I was in college and I got to see it first hand that I knew my heart was forever changed. I saw first hand how dark and murky the water in other parts of the world truly was. I was kids getting sick from the water; heck I even got sick from it. I saw young children walking miles a day carrying cans probably half their weight full of water back to their houses. I saw their water sources that were shared with all sorts of animals. I saw how scarce clean water truly was in other parts of the world.
My eyes were opened and my heart changed.
Which is why I am giving my birthday to Thirst Project, in hopes of not only continuing the education and spreading awareness on what the global water crisis is, but also in an effort to help change the world together, with all of you.
In a few short weeks, I turn 25. My goal is to give 25 people clean water for my 25th birthday. What's even more amazing, is that with Thirst Project, it only costs $25 to give ONE person clean water for LIFE! It costs more to fill up a car with gas!
